Detectives began investigating Lawrence Lofzewski after receiving a tip that he posted disturbing content involving minors online.
SPRINGFIELD, Va. — A former police officer and current employee at a school for children with behavioral and emotional challenges has been arrested on three counts of solicitation of a minor.
Lawrence Lofzewski, 37, of Springfield, was a police officer at the Metropolitan Police Department from 2019 to 2022 and at the Arlington County Police Department from 2022 to 2025. He was working as a mental health associate at Rivermont Schools in Lorton at the time of his arrest, police said.
Detectives with the Fairfax County Police Department’s Child Exploitation Unit began investigating Lofzewski, after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that he posted disturbing online content involving minors.
Police say Lofzewski communicated with detectives posing online as a minor. During the investigation, they say he engaged in inappropriate conversations and solicited sexual encounters.
Police arrested Lofzewski on Thursday at his home in Springfield and charged him with three counts of solicitation of a minor. He was held without bond and is jailed at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, police said.
