This past weekend we had an early first birthday party for our sweet Zizi – Allahuma barik Laha (May God bless her).
I never understood why people have big parties for a one year old, because they won’t remember it. Until I became a parent myself, and came to realise it really does take a village to raise a child. And Alhamdulilah our village is big and wonderful. Imagine making an “absolute essential small guest list”, and struggling to get it under 50 people! Abdul Malick and I wouldn’t be half the parents we are without our support system. Sometimes those first birthdays are not about your child, sometimes it’s a huge thank you to those who loved you through the challenges of that first year!
Special thank you to our amazing vendors:
Backdrop & train – @talesandfairies_events
All balloons, kids tables and kids Wimbledon chairs – @emeraldeventsza
Gelato stand – @rollingconesgelato
Jumping castle – @bouncehouse_sa
Soft play ball pit – @poshplay_sa
Ziya’s cake and 1 biscuits – @highteatighty
Other random things:
– Venue was my cousin’s house (not for hire ????)
– Event planned and conceptualised by me, and pulled together by our family.
– Party plates etc – bought from Osman’s (so cheap, highly recommend)
– My dress – @tdwemporium
– Ziya’s dress – custom-made
– Ziya’s headband – Pick n Pay clothing
– We kept adults full by buying a ton of @binrashied pizzas and making boerewors rolls
– Having a generator seriously saved the day!
– I recycled the colour scheme from my baby shower because when there are so many colours it makes it super easy to keep things unisex and to find items that match, highly recommend ????
