Baseball (18-10)
Claremont lost to Rio Mesa, 4-2, Tuesday in the second round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 4 baseball postseason tournament, capping their season at 18-10. The Pack finished fourth in the Palomares League at 4-6 and secured an at-large CIF bid. Sophomore pitcher Brady Houlton was a standout, finishing with a 1.58 ERA and 91 strikeouts, putting him at second in league, 74th in the state, and 352nd in the nation. Junior Kai Messner led the Pack offense, batting .304 with 21 hits, two doubles, a triple, and seven RBIs.

Softball (9-15)
Claremont closed out its season May 1 with an 11-0 loss to Ayala, finishing 9-15 and fifth in the Palomares League at 3-7.
Boys golf (4-12)
The team placed 10th at the CIF-SS Division 5 Team Finals Monday to finish the season 4-12, sixth in the Palomares League at 1-9. However, the boys finished second in the CIF-SS Academic Team Championship with an overall GPA of 3.95.
Boys tennis (9-5)
Claremont ended the year with a 15-3 loss to Loyola on May 8 in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 2 postseason tournament, capping their season at 9-5 with a second place finish in the Palomares League at 8-2.
Boys volleyball (27-10)
The Pack’s remarkable season ended May 1 with a 3-0 loss at Valencia in the second round of the CIF-SS Division 3 postseason tournament. The Baseline League champions finished 27-10, 10-2 in league.
Track and field
The Wolfpack’s girls team claimed the CIF-SS Division 2 title May 16 at the CIF-SS Finals at Moorpark High. Senior Lyle Mideiros took first in the boys 1,600-meter race and second in the 3,200. Eleven CHS athletes and two girls relay teams will compete Saturday at the CIF-SS Masters Meet at Moorpark. A recap of the girls standout season is here. Boys (0-8), girls (2-6) swim and dive
At the CIF-SS Division 2 swim finals on May 8 at Mt. San Antonio College, Claremont’s Olivia Savage placed 11th in the girls 100-yard breaststroke, 12th in the 200-yard individual medley; Alan Peng, 14th in the boys 50-yard freestyle, 16th in the 100-yard freestyle; Miles Kaiser, 16th in the boys 100-yard breaststroke; and the boys 4×50 medley relay team was 12th. Results from finals and the May 6 preliminaries are at faculty.polytechnic.org/cifss. The boys finished the season 0-8 and sixth in league at 0-5; the girls finished 2-6 and fifth in league at 1-4.
Baseball (7-13)
Though it finished fifth in San Joaquin League play at 0-9, Webb qualified for the CIF-SS Division 9 postseason tourney after defeating Fairmont Prep and Southlands Christian in a play-in tournament. The Gauls beat Loma Linda Academy, 10-5, in the first round on May 14. After Tuesday’s 5-3 second round win at Yucca Valley their record stands at 7-13. The Gauls host Ojai Valley in a quarterfinal matchup at 3:15 p.m. Friday.
Softball (5-6)
Webb closed out its season May 4 with an 18-4 loss to Samueli Academy, finishing 5-6 and in third place in the Academy League at 4-5.
Boys golf (10-3)
Webb brought home the CIF-SS Division 6 Team Championship Monday, ending the year 10-3 and in third place in the San Joaquin League at 5-3.
Boys tennis (15-5)
A 14-4 loss to South Pasadena in the semifinals of the CIF-SS Division 3 postseason tournament left Webb done for the year at 15-5. The Gauls finished second in San Joaquin League play at 8-2. Donny Tejavibulya and Andy Liu/Thomas Li were recognized as San Joaquin League singles and doubles players of the year, respectively.
Boys volleyball (11-10)
Webb’s season came to an end May 6 with a 3-1 loss to Tarbut V’Torah in the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Division 9 postseason tournament. The Gauls finished 11-10 and in first place in Western League play at 8-0.
Boys, girls swim and dive
Both teams were crowned San Joaquin League champions on May 1. At the May 8 CIF-SS Division 3 swim finals at Mt. SAC, Webb’s Audrey Ard-Huddy placed fifth in the girls 100-yard backstroke, 11th in the 50-yard freestyle; Jonathan Lee, seventh in the boys 200-yard individual medley, eighth in the 100-yard breaststroke; Maya Chin 14th in the girls 200-yard freestyle, 17th in the 500-yard freestyle; Neil Xu, 16th in the boys 100-yard butterfly; Eric Jia 17th in the boys 50-yard freestyle; and teams were seventh in the girls 4×100 freestyle and boys 4×100 freestyle, 14th in the girls 4×50 freestyle. Results from the April 30 preliminaries are at faculty.polytechnic.org/cifss. The teams’ won/loss records were not made available to the Courier.
Boys, girls track and field
Webb senior Jeremy Efuetngu represented the Gauls at the CIF-SS Division 4 Finals at Moorpark High School on May 16, claiming seventh in boy’s shot put with his 14.05 meter throw. Webb sent nine athletes and two relay teams to the May 9 preliminaries. Results are at athletic.net. The boys placed second with 153.5 points, the girls third with 99 at the April 29 San Joaquin League Finals. Full results are at athletic.net, search “Webb.”
Co-ed badminton (8-7)
Webb ended its season May 13 with a 14-7 loss to Rowland in the semifinal round of the CIF-SS Division 1 Invitational Badminton Team Tournament, finishing 8-7 and in third place in Valle Vista League play at 5-5.
