It’s hard to go to a music festival or a house party without hearing the iconic opening of ‘Untouched’ by The Veronicas.
Those lyrics of “I go ooh ooh, you go ah, ah”, along with that electrifying violin, still manage to get the heart pumping nearly 20 years after its release.
Jess and Lisa Origliasso dropped the track in 2007 on their second studio album, Hook Me Up, and the song quickly took on a life of its own.
It claimed number three on Triple J’s countdown of the best Australian songs and has even been referred to by some as Australia’s unofficial national anthem.
But the sister duo has revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle that they have re-recorded the track for the first time in nearly two decades.
“It sounds so cool,” they said.

It all started when DJ Harrison slid into their DMs, something Lisa joked was a “classic love story”.
Harrison is a DJ who remixed T.A.T.u’s 2002 hit ‘All the Things She Said’ in 2022.
This version, along with the original, ended up in the hit Canadian queer hockey romance Heated Rivalry.
The song features in a scene that has become iconic, with fans recreating the nightclub scene where Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) stare at each other, pretending not to be hurt to see the other with someone else.
“We are fans of Heated Rivalry, and I mean that show is so fun. We were obsessed with the whole musical journey that the show takes you on,” Jess told Yahoo Lifestyle.
Jess said the duo was obsessed with Harrison’s remix and T.A.T.u, so when the DJ slid into their direct messages on social media, it was a no-brainer.
“He said, ‘Your song has been played at these Heated Rivalry dance nights, and people go absolutely crazy for it. Would you be up for having a little play around and doing something together’,” Jess recalled.
“We were just such big fans of him already that we were like, ‘Yes, absolutely, we’d love to’.”

Early snippets of the song landed on social media ahead of the May 22 release and fans went wild.
“Love this for uuuuusssssss. This was one of the songs released when I lived in Sydney, wonderful memories and a banger of a song,” one eager fan said.
“This is EXACTLY what the people want,” another said.
“The Veronicas re-recorded this???!!! Wow,” a third added.
“Didn’t know I needed this but thanks,” a fourth said.
It’s not the version we’ve grown to know and love, but this will be the one that takes over every club for years thanks to its electronic beats and slower vocals.
“His ear on that, and being able to actually re-record it in 2026… our voices over the last 20 years have changed a little bit, so it was really fun to sort of give it a whole new sort of vibe.”
