Kim Wonki, candidate for mayor of Uijeongbu, has announced tailored, lifestyle-focused pledges for the eastern region, centering on alleviating daily inconveniences faced by residents of Gosan-dong and Songsan 1, 2, and 3-dong.

Candidate Kim stated, “Although the eastern region’s population has grown rapidly, daily infrastructure, transportation, and childcare environments still fall short.” He continued, “Rather than grand slogans, I will focus on changes that residents can directly feel in their everyday lives.”

For Gosan-dong, the emphasis is on creating a “child-friendly living environment.” Candidate Kim pledged to accelerate the establishment of a childcare cluster and work to attract a 24-hour children’s hospital. He also explained that, to address the ongoing inconvenience caused by the shortage of financial institutions, options such as introducing a post office and a city treasury bank branch would be reviewed. Additionally, he presented plans to expand bus routes between Gosan-dong and Byeollae Byeolgaram Station, increase the number of school buses, and expedite the establishment of a community center, aiming to enhance daily infrastructure.

In Songsan 1-dong, the focus is on strengthening public safety and administrative infrastructure. Candidate Kim proposed the early establishment of the Uijeongbu Eastern Police Station and the creation of a local residents’ center for the Songsan area. He also explained that, through the introduction of sports facilities within the Yonghyeon-dong public housing district and the implementation of an intelligent fire monitoring system in the industrial complex, he aims to improve public safety and convenience for residents.

For Songsan 2-dong, the pledges center on improving the living environment and revitalizing local commercial districts. Candidate Kim announced plans to enhance the access environment to the Buyongsan Park Golf Course, push for a variable on-street parking lot along Songhyeon-ro, support green remodeling to reduce heating costs, and create themed local commercial zones.

In Songsan 3-dong, the main focus is on transportation improvements and the expansion of cultural infrastructure. Candidate Kim presented plans to promote the establishment of Line 8’s Minlak Station, increase the number of intercity buses, and consider the introduction of autonomous shuttle buses connecting Minlak, Gosan, and Tapseok stations. Additionally, he pledged to increase cultural and leisure spaces by building a video media center and improving the nightscape of the Minlakcheon riverside walking trail.

Candidate Kim concluded, “These pledges have been organized around the daily inconveniences and long-standing wishes most frequently raised by residents in each neighborhood. Through practical, lifestyle-focused policies, I will bring about changes that residents of the eastern region can truly feel.”
