Mauritania: cops accused of accepting bribes from smugglers

In Mauritania, a corruption scandal is threatening to place the nation’s anti-migration partnership with the European Union in danger. A minimum of 11 cops and two smugglers have been accused of accepting bribes from sub-Saharan African migrants in change for his or her launch.  A significant investigation by newspapers Le Monde and El Pais has revealed allegations of bribery and corruption by the hands of Mauritanian authorities.
