Sudan’s military chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan arrived at Khartoum’s presidential palace on Wednesday, declaring the capital “free” of the paramilitary Fast Assist Forces after almost two years of warfare. “Khartoum is free, it is completed,” mentioned Burhan, Sudan’s de facto chief, in a broadcast aired by state tv, capping a multi-day marketing campaign by his forces to recapture central Khartoum’s state establishments from paramilitary management.
