POUND (WLUK) — A public health alert has been issued for bratwursts made in Pound.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection announced the alert Friday for Starzer Meats’ mushroom and Swiss bratwursts due to the product being misbranded and containing an undeclared allergen.
Officials said the bratwursts contain soy, a known food allergen which was not declared on the label. The product was sold frozen at Starzer Meats on or before Friday.
DATCP said it is issuing the alert to ensure consumers with a soy allergy are aware the product should not be consumed. So far, no illnesses have been reported. Anyone with signs or symptoms of a foodborne illness or allergic reactions should contact their doctor immediately.
