KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – After being the first team to punch its ticket to the 2026 Women’s College World Series, Tennessee was the last team to find out who its first opponent would be.
The Lady Vols will meet SEC foe Texas in their first game in Oklahoma City. The defending national champions defeated Arizona State in three games in the Austin Super Regional.
Tennessee punched its ticket to Oklahoma City by sweeping Georgia in two games.
The two programs didn’t meet during the 2026 season. The Lady Vols took two of three from the Longhorns during the 2025 regular season and fell to Texas 2-0 during the 2025 Women’s College World Series. Tennessee trails the all-time series 8-7.
It will be the third Women’s College World Series meeting between the two teams. Tennessee won 2-1 in 2013.
The World Series begins on Thursday. Tennessee will face Texas at 2:30 p.m. ET.
